The Glow Guide

jane iredale highlighters and bronzers

Makeup addicts continue to embrace the stripped-back makeup look, also known as the no-makeup makeup look, and while this look certainly requires less maintenance than a full face of makeup or smokey eyes, those in the know understand that there are still a handful of essential products needed to create a truly glowing, and healthy finish to the skin.

Setting your base foundation

Begin by applying your base, be that a simple tinted moisturiser, a mineral loose powder or a flawless, full coverage BB Cream foundation. Warm up your complexion by lightly dusting some of the Moonglow Bronzer Refill where the sun would naturally hit your face to create the illusion of a subtle sun kissed complexion- the temples, the cheekbones and the jaw line. This bronzer is comprised of four complementary shades, which can be used individually as eye shadow, or with a fine highlighter brush, and even swept together for a bronzed glow. Each shade contains subtle shimmer to diffuse the light to give you an all over, lit-from-within glow.

For dry skin, create a truly dewy base with a cream highlight; we love the In Touch Highlighter in Complete. This soft pink, pearl-toned highlighting cream can be applied to the tops of the cheekbones, brow bone and the Cupid’s bow to catch the light and add a soft-focus effect to the complexion.

Glowing Skin

The ultimate glowing beauty look doesn’t end with the skin. Draw attention to the eyes by applying a wash of shimmery colour to the lids using Smooth Affair For Eyes in Naked, Gold, Canvas, or Petal. This cream to powder formula can be used as a highlighting cream on the cheekbones, cupids bow and as eye shadow to brighten the eye area. It doubles as a primer for powder eye shadows (the creamy base gives powder products something to adhere to, meaning you’ll get the most out of the pigment and extend the life of the eye shadow without creasing). For this look, use your fingers to warm up the product then smooth it over the eyelid from lash line to crease, then apply a touch under the brow for an extra glow.

Cream blush and highlighter
Finish off your glowing look using the Highlighter Pencil in Double Dazzle. Use the antique gold shade of this dual-ended pencil to highlight the inner corner of the eyes- this will catch the light and instantly create the illusion of wider, brighter eyes. Work the copper hue along the lash line to add subtle depth and drama to the eyes. You can also use this jumbo pencil to gently scribble over your eyelid then blend the colour out with your finger for an incredibly easy smoky eye to amp up your glowing look for the evening. For olive complexions, the gold works well applied to the cupids bow to add volume to the upper lip.
